Excursion to the Bruce Peninsula Print E-mail
Saturday, 12 July 2008

brucepen1_sm.jpgOur latest excursion was a four day camping trip at Bruce Peninsula National Park, near the tip of the Bruce Peninsula.

The camping at the Cyprus Lake campground could be described as "rugged", however, it was quite luxurious compared to canoe camping. We arrived on Tuesday afternoon with a van load of kayaks, bikes, tents, and camera gear.

Return to the Island Print E-mail
Monday, 07 January 2008

sanibel08_sm.jpg After Christmas, we returned to Sanibel Island for a week of fun and relaxation. Last there in 2005/06, we returned to the same condominium complex on the beach and stayed the whole week on the island. The trip was capped off with one bonus day at Fort Myers Beach, which is not a beach, but a city. Well, it is also a beach, but it is city on a long island just south of Fort Myers.

Oh Newfoundland! Print E-mail
Friday, 27 July 2007
nfld_strip1.jpg nfld_strip2.jpg

We finally made our dream trip to Newfoundland! It is everything we heard, and more! We flew into St. John's and toured around there for a couple days. From there, it was down the Avalon Peninsula to Cape Broyle for another two days. From our cottage in Cape Broyle, we were able to explore parts of the Avalon Peninsula, including the beautiful Ferryland, site of an archeological dig at the Colony of Avalon that was founded around 1621. From the Avalon Peninusla, we headed up to Bonavista for three days, then on to Twillingate (and Trinity!), and finally over to Gros Morne on the west coast.

MORE Toboggan Madness! Print E-mail
Sunday, 11 March 2007

glebe07.jpgFor the past several years, we have been renting a cottage at Willow Beach on Lake Kashagawigamog -- usually with Aunt Joc and Uncle Mark who couldn't make it this year -- where we enjoy the ski trails right across the road. Glebe Park in Haliburton is only a short drive away and features a new mad-toboggan hill with bone-crunching jumps.

Successful Canoe Adventure in Killarney Print E-mail
Saturday, 05 August 2006

CLICK for larger picture The Clements family had a sucessful 4-day, 3-night wilderness canoe adventure in Killarney Park! This was Kristin and Jakob's second time in Killarney, having visited four years earlier on their first-ever canoe trip. The first time in Jakob was only 6 when faced with his first portage: a 2.1 km bruiser with no lunch in his tummy. This time around, the longest portage was just under half-a-kilometer, but the kids were asked to drag a kayak through it.

Vacation on Sanibel Island Print E-mail
Saturday, 07 January 2006

Click image for larger pic!One week on Sanibel Island is not quite enough! A month would be just about perfect, but everybody in the family is happy with the one week we had on beautiful Sanibel Island in the Gulf of Mexico just outside of Fort Myers, Florida. Our beach front condominium turned out to be perfect. With a south-facing view of the ocean we could see both the sunrise and sunset from our balcony. However, for most sunrises we were already out on the beach hunting for shells.
